Milan Furniture Fair 2016: Trends Report
Three days, ten key suppliers, and forty kilometres of walking at Salone del Mobile Milano, the world’s largest furniture fair! It makes for an action-packed week in April, but it’s a great opportunity to keep up-to-date with what’s new from our suppliers and what’s leading the world in commercial furniture design.
Here are some of the key trends for 2016 that we picked up on:
Colours
A handful of fresh pastels working with mature versions of same hue – spearmint, peach, lemon, forest green, salmon, deep red, mustard. And black on black used in very grounding ways.
Materials
Oak for feelings of freshness, walnut for richness, black lacquered timber for class, matt polypropylene for sensibility, interesting metallics for just a touch of glam with copper sitting at the top of the list.
Styles
Smooth easy curves, cool straight lines, familiar friendly Scandinavian and mid-century influences provide the 'oh I’m sure I’ve met you before' feeling, but in a good way.
